The Supreme Court has directed that mining is prohibited within all National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries, as well as within a one-kilometre buffer zone around their boundaries across India. The Court reaffirmed its 26 April 2023 order in the Goa Foundation case, making the one-kilometre no-mining restriction applicable nationwide.
